Education in Emergencies
Restoring Hope Through Education

Despite the devastation, WHA remained committed to ensuring that children’s education was not interrupted. We set up 80 emergency learning spaces within the temporary shelter camps, reaching over 5,000 children.

With the local economy disrupted and basic resources scarce, WHA rolled out food security programs. We’ve delivered emergency food aid to over 80,000 individuals and initiated cash transfer programs for 15,000 families, empowering them to meet their basic needs.

When a series of catastrophic earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey, WHA was quick to mobilize.

Unforeseen Disasters

The earthquakes left approximately 20 million people homeless in both Syria and Turkey.

Unwavering Response

The loss was significant: over 50,000 lives lost, WHA launched an emergency shelter program that provided 150,000 temporary shelter kits in the immediate aftermath.

Jake Stephenson
Passionate about humanitarian assistance and relief, Jake Stephenson serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the World Humanitarian Alliance (WHA), bringing with him a deep-seated passion for humanitarian causes.
Jake's strong analytical skills have been pivotal in the creation and execution of clear business strategies, achieving strategic goals across fundraising, program management, advocacy, and financial reserves.
Chief of Humanitarian Operations
Rachel B. Gerren, MBA., LLM
As the Chief of Humanitarian Operations at the World Humanitarian Alliance (WHA), Rachel takes the lead in coordinating and advocating on critical issues associated with current humanitarian crises.
Her responsibilities extend to fostering collaborations with other NGO consortia, focusing on humanitarian response and coordination. This includes the supervision of all country Working Groups and specific crisis responses.
Executive V.P and Chief Financial Officer
Louisa Razan
Louisa Razan serves as the Chief Financial Officer for WHA, where she brings her extensive financial expertise to bear on a mission that is close to her heartLouisa's role involves overseeing all financial operations.
A key aspect of her role is liaising with donors and financial institutions to secure necessary funding for WHA's operations. In addition, she coordinates with other executive team members to strategize and make crucial financial decisions.

Jason Powell, Ph.D.
Jason Powell is the Chief of Technical Programs at WHA, where he harnesses his extensive technical expertise to drive forward the organization's mission.
